- Summer (June to September): very hot and humid on the coast. In Dubai, average highs reach 41°C in July and August, and nights rarely fall below 31°C.
- Autumn (October and November): temperatures ease month by month, from an average high of 35°C in October to 31°C in November.
- Winter (December to February): the mildest season, with average highs of 24°C and lows of 15°C in January. Morning fog is common on the coast.
- Spring (March to May): warm days that get hotter quickly, with average highs of 28°C in March and 37°C by May.
Rain is rare. Most of it falls between November and March, usually on only a few days a month, and Dubai records around 90 mm in a typical year.
Best Time to Visit the UAE
November to March is the most comfortable time for sightseeing, beaches and parks such as Mushrif Park and Umm Suqeim Park. In summer, plan outdoor activities for early morning or evening, and choose indoor or water-based attractions in the middle of the day.
Coast, Desert and Mountains
The coastal cities of Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are humid for much of the year. Inland desert areas are drier, with hotter days and cooler nights. The Hajar Mountains in Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah are noticeably cooler at altitude, which makes them popular escapes in the warmer months.
Staying Safe in the Heat
- Drink water regularly, even when you do not feel thirsty.
- Avoid direct sun around midday, when the UV index is highest.
- Never leave children or pets in a parked car.
- In winter, slow down and use low-beam lights when driving through morning fog.
